Drunk driver blamed for recent fatal crash

Authorities say that a 26-year-old was driving with passengers on a Chandler freeway. The car slid off the road and hit a pole, resulting in the death of one passenger and injury to two others. Police claim that his blood alcohol content was measured at 0.168, which is more than double the legal limit. They also allege that there is more to this incident that may result in the driver facing some serious criminal charges.

One of the passengers has claimed that the driver and a different passenger discussed “drifting” the car prior to the deadly crash. Drifting is when a driver intentionally makes the rear tires of the car lose traction. Law enforcement says that the driver attempted this stunt, causing the car to spin and resulting in a loss of control. Because of this, the driver may now be facing charges of second-degree murder, aggravated assault and endangerment. He was arrested and is now being held on bond.
