Car accidents stemming from drunk driving may prove fatal

Two people's lives were sadly cut short in a recent car crash in Arizona. A man who reportedly caused the crash by driving while impaired now faces charges of manslaughter in connection with the fatal collision. When drunk driving causes injury or fatal car accidents, this is grounds for litigation in the Grand Canyon State.

According to authorities, a man was operating a pickup truck at around 6:30 p.m. on a Friday. As he drove east on a road, he reportedly crashed into a car that was trying to make a left turn on that road. Witnesses apparently told police that the traffic light happened to be red when the truck driver entered the intersection.

Two individuals in the car ended up passing away as a result of the collision. They were 20 and 21 years old. Following the accident, police determined that the man's blood alcohol content was 0.145 percent, which is almost twice the legal limit of 0.08. The man ended up being arrested for driving under the influence and faces two reckless manslaughter counts as well.

The grieving loved ones of the two individuals who died in the Arizona crash may decide to file wrongful death claims against the man who was arrested. If he ends up being convicted on his charges, proof of the conviction may be presented in a related civil court proceeding in an effort to establish liability in the accident. If the plaintiffs are successful, they may receive monetary damages that might help with covering the deceased victims' funeral costs and other losses resulting from these types of tragic car accidents.
