Motorcyclists typically know that they are much more vulnerable to accidents than those in a passenger vehicle. They take the proper safety precautions, such as wearing helmets and following the rules of the road, to avoid being involved in any traffic incidents. Sadly, they cannot always count on other motorists to do the same. This may have been the case in a recent motorcycle accident here in Arizona that claimed the life of a 20 -year-old man.

Authorities say that the crash happened on a recent early evening when a woman driving a passenger vehicle was attempting to turn left out of a private driveway and head south. The motorcyclist was apparently driving north, and she allegedly failed to yield to him. Police report that she did not see the motorcycle before the accident occurred.

The motorcyclist was rushed to a nearby hospital but was pronounced dead there. The woman driving the car had a 3-month-old passenger, and neither of them was hurt. Police have not stated whether they will charge the woman with any crimes, though they have said that they do not expect that impairment was a factor in the crash. The motorcyclist was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

Whether or not this woman ends up with any criminal charges, the family of the motorcyclist could decide to pursue a civil claim against her or any other parties deemed responsible. A successfully litigated claim could result in monetary damages that could help the man’s family cover any expenses incurred from this horrible tragedy. Anyone in Arizona who has been hurt in a motorcycle accident may wish to consult with an experienced personal injury attorney to determine the best course of action.
